Cheap High Speed Internet Providers

December 6, 2007

Are you shopping for cheap high speed internet providers? The choices are simpler than you think. You are likely in the market for 1 of 3 types of services. Accelerated dialup, medium speed DSL, or medium speed Cable. Either way, you definitely want to take advantage of any promotions each service provider has and average that into the length of the contract to come up with a realistic idea of what you will be paying.

The advantage of accelerated dialup is the increased speed for viewing web pages. But be aware that if you plan on downloading files, receive emails, stream music or videos, the speed will not differ from regular dialup. On top of that, images are usually compressed resulting in lower quality images. So if this is your cup of tea, there are several providers out there with promotional pricing around $7 a month.

If you need a little more bang for your buck, you might want to consider what I call “medium speed” broadband. These are generally the lower end of DSL and Cable packages. Medium speed broadband ranges from 256 kbps to 768 kbps or 5 to 14 times faster than dialup. This choice is good for the occasional web surfer, emailing, instant messaging, checking news articles, and for those who would like to download things faster than dialup. With standard pricing around $14.95, this is a better choice for faster internet on a budget.

I look forward to your comments and hope to expand the cheap high speed internet providers blog with additional resources in the future.
